If you are getting garbage, it sounds like the baud rate is wrong. Try different baud rates in Hyperterminal. Bear in mind that with some versions of Hyperterminal you must disconnect and re-connect the call (or even perhaps save settings, quit HT, and re-enter) before the new baud rate takes effect.

Hi You can access this 837 router using browser.follow the steps.

Cisco Router Web Setup (CRWS) is loaded on your router. These instructions show you how to configure your router using CRWS. The CRWS software runs on Netscape versions 3.0 through 4.7, and on Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later.

The Cisco Router Web Setup (CRWS) software is loaded on the router and should be used to configure the router to connect to the Internet. The CRWS software runs on Netscape version 3.0 through 4.7, and on Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later. Follow these steps to start the CRWS software and configure the router:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1 Start, or restart, a PC connected to one of the router Ethernet ports (1, 2, 3, or 4).

Step 2 Open a web browser. Make sure that the browser is set to work in online mode.

?In Internet Explorer, click the File menu, and verify that the "work offline" option is unchecked.

?In Netscape, the default selection in the File menu is set to work online.

Step 3 Type in the universal resource locator (URL) shown in Figure 1-3.

is this 1st time u connect to it ?

has the router worked before ?

if the answer to teh above is yes, try changing console cable and / or hyperterminal application.

re check ur setting for hyperterminal.

we need to eliminate the simple case of corrupted cable or misconfigured hyperterminal.
