WS-C2960G-24TC-L IOS question.

Hey everyone, this should be a quick once.

I was under the impression that c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-40.SE.bin should be okay to load onto the WS-C2960G-24TC-L,

but when I tftped the file over to my switch and setup the boot sequence like so:

BOOT path-list : flash:/c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-40.SE.bin;flash:/c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE3/c2960-lanbase-mz.122-25.SEE3.bin

It starts to load the new IOS, says it has an error loading, and starts my older version up just fine.

So...did I just not read well enough and attempt to load on an invalid image?

If not...any suggestions on how to get it to load right would be handy.

James, if in doubt best is to go to software advisory and do a search by platform c2960 which will point you to right codes..if the one you downloded is the correct version delete it and tftp it again, it may have gotten currupted .

Well, I've reloaded the .bin a couple of times, and the verify command says that the image is good.

As far as I can tell...this SHOULD load on this switch with no issues.

If you do a "dir flash: do both show up ? Looks like the old one is in a directory . Does the 2960 have enough room for 2 images ? I know the older 2950's could only hold 1 image at a time . Verify you have a complete new ios file .

And they are both the same size, from the UNIX TFTP server to the flash itself.

The .bin file should be all I need. It appears the directory is there mostly because the HTTP is enabled on the old image.

It gets about this far:

Ha!

The problem was that the version on the tftp server was actually a different version of IOS, but renamed funny when it was sftped to the tftp server.

Therefor it would verify just fine. :) Works fine now. Thanks for all the possible solutions.
