for customers with the SAU (with major upgrades) contract, is the LMS 3.0 available for free ?

It should, because SAU covers also major upgrades .

Thats an entitlement ,not technical issue but I'll cover it.

LMS 3.0 is a major release so SAU doesn't cover it. SAU only supports point (minor)upgrades within a release train (like any upgrades between v2.2 to v2.6 would be no charge).

You were spoiled by Cisco with the LMS 2.5 upgrade even though it was a major rewrite, they released it as a minor release.

thanks for the answer, but

SAS covers minor upgrades, but SAU (or SASU) covers major and minor upgrades (or should cover). The question is that if this is true also for LMS 3.0.

Please note this below, regardless of you contract:

Customers with existing LMS 2.5, 2.5.1 and 2.6 are eligible to take advantage of this cost savings upgrade offer. This promotional upgrade will be offered for 90-days starting July 16, 2007 and will end on October 31, 2007.

LMS 3.0 is a major new software release providing a centralized management system for sharing device information across all LMS applications. This release includes significant improvements in manageability, scalability and enhancements allowing the management system to adjust to dynamic changes in the network.
