Availiable Bandwidth

Hai,

Sorry to put the same quiery.

One of my client router serial interface (Bandwidth is 1984 Kbps),it Availiable BW is showing 88 Kbps.What does this excatly means.Can customr use the Full 1984 Kbps Pipe .

Even i ve changed the same to 100 % (Using Max-Reserved-Bandwidth) after doing the same it increased to 648 Kbps .I checked the same in My ISP Core routers is that i can see 1532 Kbps in (Availiable BW) for almost all 2 Mbps link.

Can some one help regarding ..

i feel you have applied qos config on the interface which might result in this.

can you verify the same usin show run interface serial x/x or show policy-map interface ?

Hi,

The formula to consider is:

Available Bandwidth = max-reserv x interface bandwidth - allocated bandwidth

Allocated bandwidth stems from QoS policies where you use CBWFQ or LLQ.

The available bandwidth can be allocated to other QoS classes in an attached policy-map. Available bandwidth does not influence the interface usage, i.e. you always can use 100% of interface speed to forward traffic (unless policing or shaping is configured).
