Hello!
Is it possible to clone the mac address of the wan interface on a pix 501?
I would like to use it connected to a cable modem.

Hi,
What u exatly want to do as in cloning?
U could either use the outside interface as dhcp client to pull ip address from iSp,or a pppoe client or assign an ip address to the outside interface of the pix

i want to use the outside int as a dhcp client. the problem is that the isp registers its users by mac address, and not this pix was connected to the modem by this time.

HI,
HI,
Have u added this line :
ip address dhcp setroute on the pix .
What entries u see on the arp table ?
The pix will proxy arp so it should pick an ip address and route from the dhcp server ?
U could turn that off with sysopt noproxyarp if_name .
But since this is 501 we cannot use this command to set the mac address of the interface :
mac-address mac_address [standby mac_address]
