6500 basic questions

Hi friends,

I just wanted to get answers to a few basic questions:

1. In 6509-E switch, here is the relevent output of show file systems command:

File Systems:

Size(b) Free(b) Type Flags Prefixes

- - opaque rw *

512024576 470073344 disk rw sup-bootdisk: sup-bootflash:

I see that both sup-bootdisk: and sup-bootflash: are mentioned. Does it mean that sup-bootdisk: is an alias for sup-bootflash: ?

So, if i say either boot system sup-bootflash or boot system sup-bootdisk, they both mean the same?

2. For 12.2SXF10, I believe that there are two IP Services images viz.

a. s72033-ipservices_wan-mz.122-18.SXF10.bin

b. : s72033-ipservicesk9-mz.122-18.SXF10.bin

What is the difference between these two images? Which one is relevant for 6509-E switch with Sup 720-3B currently running s72033-ipservicesk9-mz.122-18.SXF5.bin ?

Starting 12.2(18)SXF code, a compact flash in place of bootflash is being supported. So, sup-bootdisk is a replacement for sup-bootflash.

K9 is for 3DES (Triple encryption software). The main difference is that the first image does not have 3 DES and the 2nd one does.

Hi Gautam,

1.

sup-bootflash: - 64-mb bootflash device in Sup720

sup-bootdisk: - the 512-mb CF card

2.

unique features w/ k9 is SSH.

if you are using SSH before(sxf5), stick it k9.
