Will this IP phones work with a PRI?
The PRI is delivered via a Cisco IAD 2400 series router

Of course, use CallManager to register the phones, then follow this document
Good luck

thanks, have you done this before?

I have not, but if you follow the document, it should be like adding any other gateway to Callmanager via H323 or MGCP. Just that your 2400 IAD is end of life. I would look into getting a 2811 or something similar.

The callmanager configuration is done on the 2400 IAD and not on the phone, is that correct?

Have you configured any routers to CallManager before? It's all basically the same. The routers get a base configuration (hostname, IP address, MGCP information) then CallManager Gateway configurations is updated with the hostname, etc. When the gateway contacts CCM, CCM configures and controls the gateway through MGCP.
If you use H323, then all the configurations are done at the router. At CCM, a trunk is configured and then calls have access to that trunk.

Honestly, never. We are providing a PRI hand-off with a 2400 IAD router and am determining if we can use the cisco IP 7940 & 7960 IP phones. Do not know where the call manager configuration is done. From what you are saying it looks like its done on the 2400 or, is it done on the phone? thnaks

You will need to follow the document I gave you, plus:
Before You Begin
Before configuring a Cisco IOS MGCP gateway for use with Cisco CallManager, you must configure the gateway by using the Cisco IOS command-line interface (CLI). For procedures and commands that are required to perform this configuration, refer to the configuration documentation that is supplied with the gateway.

Basically you configure the following:
- Bring the router online with IOS configuration
- Add gateway to callmanager
- Configure PRI at the router and at CCM Gateway
- You should see "Gateway xxx.xxx.xxx registered with CallManager
- Configure your IP phones to use this gateway. This involves setting up Route Patterns, Partitions and Calling Search search spaces.
- Also configure your Device parameters for these phones. (locations, etc)
There is no configuration at the IP phone. Everything is done at CCM and the some at the gateway.
