Access-list simulations on the 640-801

I use an online study site which uses practice simulations, and on their access-list sims, if you are applying an ACL to a router, they want you to apply it on both the serial interface and the fast ethernet interface. In class I would only apply to one or the other. Does anyone know what Cisco wants?

It would be unusual to apply the same access-list to an Ethernet and Serial line at the same time. Normally you would write an access-list for a specific direction of traffic, in which case what do they want - to apply it on input on one side and output on the other? That sounds fairly redundant.

In an exam, the wording of the question should say how they want the router to behave. Normally where you apply the access list will be implicit in the question. That is part of the exercise: to choose the best place to put the access list to meet the requirements.

Sorry that is not a yes/no answer, but in real life it is a design decision.
