Policy Queuing - GigabitEthernet Interfaces

A SP provide, to the company I work for, a 45Mb/s bandwidth via Gigabit Ethernet (ADM) interface between two of our distant sites.

Even if the bandwidth command is configured into the interface configuration, the router will send out the traffic at 1Go.

I'm wondering if it is mandatory to configure priority queuing in order to avoid to surpass the provided bandwidth by Service Provider.

Most traffic is over UDP.

Priority queuing is not applicable in this case. Please use shaping to comply with your actual WAN capacity/smooth traffic bursts/prevent packetloss

Hi,

As i understand, you have 45Mbps of Circuit using gigabit Ethernet.

Concern : you see only 1 Gigabit of traffic for out.

Observation : most of the traffic is UDP.

________

1> Please share if the incoming traffic is higher ? as it is possible that LAN users in your area are performing download and the BW for sent will be low in this case

2> Note that the BW command over the gig interface is for routing protocol - like OSPF to calcuate cost, BW command will not restrict the BW.

3> PQ is required in case you wish to send some type of traffic before rest of the traffic is out. If Service Provider has applied limits, it will be followed and cannot be avoided

Please revert if this assists you

Regards

Prince
