Restore Config File

I need alittle clarification on restoring a config via tftp.

I have a PIX 506e running 6.3

I am using the configure net command to upload a new config file to the pix from a tftp server. This command is merging the two files but, I need to over write the current config file with the new one.

what command is needed to restore the config via tftp and overwrite the old one?

Thanks in advance.

I have not done this on a PIX so I can not speak from experience. But I believe that the process on the PIX is like the process with IOS. When you tftp to running-config it is a merge operation of the new file and the existing file. so you should tftp to startup-config which is a replace operation of the old file. Then you reboot to load the restored file.

Rick,

The command copy tftp startup-config

doesn't work with pix.

Thanks.
