Hi,

Two switch are connected via LANLink , if one port is shut the other end does not go down.

Can udld be used to detect the failure.

Can I apply UDLD on non Optical interface on switch?

Thx,

Hi,

If the two switch connected through direct UTP cable then if one end goes down the other should go down also.

If media converted is used (because of fiber connection) then some converters turn of their Ethernet if the fiber link down and some do not. That's where you can benefit from UDLD. You can enable it on cooper ports as well.

Please take a look at this link for more info about UDLD:

Hope it helps, rate if does
