Hi,
I have completed CCNP routing BSCI. Now I will move to switching exam. A colleague here tells me he did his switching practice using a Layer 3 router with switching module as opposed to a standard switch.
Will the commands and functionality be the same or similar using this type of setup as opposed to normal Layer 2 switches?
Im led to believe he loaded an IOS into dynamips with a switching module to practice.
Any help appreciated.

Most of the config will be similar - the biggest CLI changes with an L3 capable switch are the facility to add IP addresses to more than one VLAN, the ability to issue "ip routing" and static routes other than ip default-gateway, and the ability to configure some routing processes.

Most if not all the L2 features should be available in a L3 switch. Depending on the L3 switch in question, syntax and config appearance might differ.
