Can ASDM be accessed through VPN. I configured the following commands.Didn't work.
username xxx password xxxx encrypted privilege 15
username xxxx attributes
vpn-group-policy xxxx
vpn-framed-ip-address 172.16.1.250 255.255.255.0
http server enable
http 172.16.1.250 255.255.255.255 inside
management-access inside

can you telnet/ssh to the inside interface over the same vpn connection?

it definitely needs to be on the 'inside' interface.
make sure the inside interface is part of the general vpn set up.

u cant specify management interface as outside. So it should be some thing other than outside.

I was trying to use VPN behind ASA (remote) .Later from home when i tried it started working. Can u tell me what all ports has to be opened for using vpn behind firewall.

try a different port other than https:
example:
http server enable 4433
once AVC establish the SSL-VPN, connect ASDM to ASA-inside-IP:4433
you may need to enable/disable http a couple of times:
no http server enable 4433
