Diff in regulars WAPs vs. LWAPs...

What is the difference in WAPs and lightweight WAPs? I installed the 1100 (I believe 1121's) series about two years ago (relatively small deployments <15 WAPs per site) and I dont recall hearing about lightweights then. I am getting back into the field and now I hear about lightweights and WCS's (did they even have those 2 years ago)? Thank you.

Hi Jimmy,

You are most welcome :) These changes are pretty drastic but the new deployments will be easier to manage going forward. We have changed our rollout from Autonomous to Lightweight and are very happy overall!

Take care,

Rob

Hi Jimmy,

The time when you installed these, 2 years ago was just when Cisco was purchasing Airespace (I think it was) which were running with the new "Lightweight" protocol. So you probably would have not seen anything. Have a look at this info to see what has changed;

Hope this helps! And best of luck.

This was an excellent reference, thank you.
