Benefits of IP phones over VIC-2E/M phones

Seems very basic : )

What is the benefits of ip phone , a call manager over having VIC-2E/M cards.

Economywise and techology wise.

E/M (Ear & Mouth) provides an interface specification for connecting IP telephony networks to PBX's switches. This is normally done on the gateway. So, you cannot compare them like that imo.

What we can compare is IP telephony vs traditional telephony (TDM) Time Division Multiplexing. These are becoming legacy with the rise of IPT and growth of SIP for example.
