Does a Catalyst 2950 switch have only one MAC address? Is this address associated with a network interface card? Is this MAC address associated with the IP address and default-gateway of the switch?

The 2950 is a layer two switch and as such is can have just the one IP address. It does not have a discrete NIC as such - it has however many LAN ports though, and as it is effectively the network, it needs no further hardware to access the network IYSWIM.
The default gateway serves the same purpose as in a PC. It tells the switch the address of the router so that it can be manged remotely.
