I am setting up a 6 workstation network for a client. It will have only a Win DC and Win File Srv. No web or email server. The ISP is ADSL. On occasion a user on a business trip will need to RDP to the file server using TermSrv. I would appreciate some router and network configuration advice.
) Is the ASA 5500 router / 8 port switch a good choice?
) The client also wants wireless. Would it be wise to use a WAP or another router with wireless like the Cisco 877.
) I've heard that issues occur when IPSec is used for VPN access from hotels. Is that true? If so, why do so many of the Cisco routers only support IPSec?
) Is it better to allow my router device to perform DHCP or have the Win DC do it?
) Network configuration - Does this sound ok. I connect the Cisco router/8 port switch to the ADSL router supplied by the ISP. Then connect the DC, file server and each workstation to the Cisco switch ports. I need to use Active Directory to manage users. Should I instead connect the DC to the Cisco router with one NIC. Connect the other DC NIC to a second switch and connect the workstations to that switch?
Thanks a lot if you can help.
