Catalyst 4948 Booting Issue

How can i boot the Catalyst 4948 with New IOS which i am loading into bootflash.

I am setting the boot variable,but every time i reboot the switch it boots with the new IOS.

To get it boot with new IOS , i need to delete the old IOS from bootflash.

Boot variable i am setting is as follows

boot system flash bootflash:xyz.bin

As you mentioned "I am setting the boot variable,but every time i reboot the switch it boots with the new IOS" is it booting with new IOS or old IOS? May be its a typo error?

If it is booting from new IOS what exactly is a problem and what is your requirement?

The boot variable you are setting is correct and you can verify by using "sh boot" command.

Sorry yaa it was typo error...

I mean to say every time it boots with old IOS,even if i set it to boot with new IOS using above mentioned boot variable...

Can you paste the output of "dir bootflash:" and "show boot"?
