Say I want to set up 2 networks.

I dont want to route between them and I want them to be on the same switch.

So I want each computer to be part of 2 network.

What is the best way to set that up? I've never done it so I want to be sure of how it would be done.

Use a layer 2 switch, two VLANS.

Each PC / host gets two NICs, each NIC is on its own subnet.

Each of the two NICs plugs into the associated VLAN.

No magic there at all.

Good Luck

Scott

If PC NIC's support trunking, could also have each PC on both VLANs logically using just one NIC.

If you use windows XP PCs, then use a layer 3 switch make diffrent VLAN and assign 2 set of IP address ( of 2 VLANS) with in XP PC

To add extra IP address goto advanced property of the NIC and set
