Is the IDSM-2 module for the 6500 classified as IPS or IDS?

Hi cfajardo1

IDSM-2 has 4 logical interfaces.

port0 : tcp reset

port1 : Control

port7 : data

port8 : data

So you can use it as an IPS because of port7 and port8, however you can use it also as IDS. This depends on your decision.

Another thing the IDSM-2 is IDS but it has an IPS Software.
