Unanswered Question
Oct 10th, 2007

Hi to everyone

i'd like to suggest me if you know the best book for passing the CCNP exam (for BSCI, for BCMSN, for ISCW, and for ONT). I've heard that Sybex books (for ccnp)aren`t so good. Is it real?

I have this problem too.

I don't want to comment about which book is good.

I use Sybex for CCNA/CCDA and I use CiscoPress for CCNP, CCDP, CCSP and CCIE Written. Passed them all but I'm not crazy to travel overseas to take CCIE LAB.

As I am a previous Sybex author, I am not going to say anything bad about the Sybex books. On the flipside, I actually prefer a lot of Cisco Press books to the Sybex books just because I think Cisco Press tends to go into a bit more detail.

I would generally advise against the Sybex books, for one reason... The ciscopress books are written by the people who write the exams, Cisco themselves.. So you would find that the exam actually tests you on the knowledge that one would learn from the exam certification book from Cisco.

Sybex don't write the exams and you don't get the same advantage as you would from reading a Cisco Press certification guide... Which is actually far more detailed and thorough, the terms and phrases used in the books are phrases and words that would be used on the exam.

Hope that helps.

BSCI - CCIE TCP/IP Routing vol 1-2 for much more detailed and comprehensive exam preparation.

BCMSN - Cisco LAN Switching CCIE Prof. Development, again for the reasons mentioned above.

All the best.
