Hi All.
I am peering to an MPLS provider over an ATM circuit. If I want to turn on OAM Manage on my ATM interface, does the Provider have to have OAM turned on on their side, as well?
I have received OAM AIS/RDI cells from the turn-up process, but from I understand, these are sent from the switch(s), not the ATM endpoints.
So if I turn on OAM manage on my end of the VC, and it starts sending out loopback cells, will the other endpoint (provider router) automatically loop those back, regardless of their settings?
I need to make sure, because I am remote to this router, and I don't want to have to make a trip out there.
Thanks,
Alex

Yes, the other end of PVC will reflect OEM cells automatically and does not require any configuration for the feature to work on your side.
If you want to work safely when doing remote changes, schedule a reload with "reload in 5 minutes". Do the changes and if all is good do "reload cancel". But if you get locked out, router will reload as scheduled with the last saved configuration.
hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
