7970 dtmf issue

having problem with some 7970 phones not recognizing the dtmf digits dialed.. basically, we can enter the digits and then hit the dial softkey and the call will fail as some digits are not recognized. in the phone log we get a "ERR 11:28:47.863639 DSP: assert() dtmfConnection 1097, dtmfDonePending 0

ERR 11:28:47.864824 DSP: ftoneExecute - failed to play a dtmf digit to PCM/NETWORK" error... any ideas

Likely you need to upgrade FW on the phone. Right now, 8.2(2)SR4 is a recommended version.
