I'm currently running a PixOS 7.2(2) and considering moving to an ASA5540 but wondering if the configuration/OS is simlar. Can I just do a copy and paste of the config file?

Hi,

If the OS version and name/number of interfaces are the same, that should not be a problem - except for some certificates (i.e. SSL VPN Certs). If ASA5540 supports 7.2(2) use that version during migration, once everything is working fine in production for about a week, upgrade the OS to higher version of your choice.

Dandy
