I have a 521 WAP on my network. It got a DHCP address and I can PING the 521.
I created a community and told it to Discover using "a single device by IP address". It fails to connect.
I am trying to roll out six of these in standalone mode. Any help is welcome!

Make sure the community string is configured right. Device responds only if this is right and correct permissions are alloted for community.

What is the "community string"? I was trying to use the "connect to a single device" option rather than create a community. Are you using these 521's on a Cisco Catalyst switch? I am using a 3com or Dell switch.

Posted in your other thread, but just FYI for others, the LAP521 is a lightweight AP for use with the 526 wireless controller.
In standalone mode, you want the AIR-AP521. Also only up to three standalone 521s are allowed for one CCA community. three to six are supported with a 526 controller, and up to two controllers (for a total of up to 12 LAP521s).

I did recover my AP521 from lap to ap back with:
config tftp-server with 10.0.0.11 /24
and c520-k9w7-tar.124-10b.JA.tar
under the name c520-k9w7-tar.default
(ensure direct network connection between
tftp server and ap521,
optionally connect serial console 9600-8N1)
disconnect powersupply,
press the mode buton right from the console
port using a pencil
apply power.
WAIT until R Light stays red
console reads:
button is pressed, wait for button to be released...
WAIT additionally 35 sec
releas the pencil/mode button.
Console port tells:
button pressed for 43 seconds
process_config_recovery: set IP address and config to default 10.0.0.1
process_config_recovery: image recovery
image_recovery: Download default IOS tar image tftp://255.255.255.255/c520-k9w7-
tar.default
ap521 now loads the tar-ball,
flashes, reboots:
Deleting current version...
Deleting flash:/c520-rcvk9w8-mx...done.
New software image installed in flash:/c520-k9w7-mx.124-10b.JA
Configuring system to use new image...done.
Requested system reload in progress...download took about 289 seconds
Now, it's again an AP521.
User, password, enabler are Cisco .
(BIG-Letter C, little-letters isco )
Hope this helps,
Juergen.
BTW, if anyone knows how to STATICALLY
(without additionally DHCP/DNS Server
just for the infrastructure,
it seems to be missing in the 526)
configure an LWAPP-521 please let me know.
Also, if there are any other "press the
button for nnn seconds" procedures...
