Is this possible?

2 equal bandwidth links out to the same ISP AS.

Is it possible for me to configure BGP so that I receive traffic on one link and return traffic on the second link?

Seeing that the traffic will originate from the same ISP AS and go out through the same ISP AS, can I influence BGP to send and receive differently?

Will this cause a routing problem?

Ask you ISP if they support MED. That is what you use to influence incoming traffic.

For outgoing. a simple peer preference will do.

Even if your traffic is totally asymmetric, that should not cause any problem.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Can't I use as-path to change link 1 to be 3 AS paths away so it influences inbound traffic to not take this link amd use link 2. On iBGP I would set this link 1 local preference to be the best choice for outbound traffic.

Wouldnt this work without consulting with the ISP ?

sonds ok, shouldnt be a problem.
