In the fall I will be starting the Cisco Systems Network Academy. This will be new career for me.I am currently in transportation. My first class will be Cisco Router Technology and then Cisco Router Technology. I have been told to work my way to Voice Over IP because this is where the future technology is going. Can anyone give me any idea after these certification classes for CCNA AND CCNP what certification to get next? As far as computer knowledge, I do have general skills with the my home computer but thats as far as it goes.

I have this problem too.

For voice, it would be CCVP.

However, I would suggest getting very familar with the OSI model at current's a check list for ya:

1) OSI Model

2) IP Addressing/subnetting

3) Switching Fundamentals

4) Routing Fundamentals

a) rip

b) ripv2

c) igrp

d) eigrp

f) ospf

g) bgp

That should be a good start for ya and probably take you 3-6 months to really comprehend all of the above.

Thank you Brad for taking the time to give me all this information.I am very excited about starting a career and knowing nothing about it. At least I should learn the correct way and not have any bad habits that I learned in the past.

Thanks again
