Netflow Configuration

Hi Guys,

I am some what new to netflow so any assistance you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I am running a 6509 Sup 720 - 12.2(18)SXF5. I have setup Fluke Networks NetFlow Tracker as my netflow collector and my configuration is as follows:

interface VlanX

ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0

no ip redirects

ip route-cache flow

mls netflow sampling

end

ip flow-export source VlanX

ip flow-export version 9

ip flow-export destination X.X.X.X 2055

I have no data in the Netflow collector but I can see data is being sent. Please see below for an excerpt from the switch.

show ip flow export

Flow export v9 is enabled for main cache

Exporting flows to X.X.X.X (2055)

Exporting using source interface VlanX

Version 9 flow records

3029 flows exported in 484 udp datagrams

0 flows failed due to lack of export packet

0 export packets were sent up to process level

0 export packets were dropped due to no fib

0 export packets were dropped due to adjacency issues

0 export packets were dropped due to fragmentation failures

0 export packets were dropped due to encapsulation fixup failures

0 export packets were dropped enqueuing for the RP

0 export packets were dropped due to IPC rate limiti

Could someone please point me into the right direction?

For the time being, I simply want to turn Netflow on and collect data.

Thank you for your assistance and I will look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Chris.

Hi Chris,

I'm collecting v5 flow records and had to add the following additional configuration to our 6509's:

mls nde sender version 5

mls flow ip interface-full

mls nde interface

mls agingtime long 64

mls agingtime fast 16 0

As far as the agingtime variables, I'd check the Tracker documentation for any specific values.

However, I started seeing data as soon as I added the mls nde sender version.

Hope this helps,

Claire
