I'm running into some various answers on the design / implementation.
Existing Setup: 2 Unity 4.2(1) servers running VM-only setup in an isolated AD/Exchange 2000 environment. UnityA is the DC/GC and serving SiteA; UnityB is a DC and service SiteB. Sites are linked over the WAN, and already had the recommendation from TAC to have UnityB server also act as a GC for if/when WAN failure occurs.
Now - what I'm looking at doing is bringing up another Unity server at SiteC, preferably running Unity 5.0(1) and digitally network all three sites together. However according to Cisco docs you must be running Exchange 2003 for new installations, as well as Win2k3 (recommended).
Is this design possible, or even recommended? Ultimately all three servers will be upgraded to Unity 5 however not at this exact time. Or is my only real option to stay with adding Unity in as another Win2k DC and run Unity 4.2(1)?
Any thoughts appreciated.
