Try to log the 3640 to a syslog server with "logging hostname", the the 3640 only takes ip address not DNS name. Any one has any insight ?

TIA

Did you define a DNS server and domain name where to look it up?

In fact, even if you define a static ip host entry for the logging host, and then do logging hostname, when you read back the config it is an IP address. It only resolves the hostname as you are typing in the command, not dynamically.
