%DTP-4-PKTQFULL:DTP internal queue

Unanswered Question

Anyone know what tha above may mean? It is from a catos switch running ancient SW, and the error message decoder suggests contacting support. The SW age means no TAC, but it would be nice to have a clue.

The network is also poorly designed - everything in VLAN1, blade servers via cheap switches, a right hodgepodge and no resilient links...

I have this problem too.

Most possible causes for DTP-4-PKTQFULL are:

- excessive traffic /stp loop (the most likely)

- trunk flap

- trunk misconfiguration

%DTP-4-PKTQFULL: DTP internal queue dtpPktQ full This message indicates that an overflow occurred in the DTP internal packet queue due to an abnormal condition. We need to take a look at the health of the switches' trunks. DTP (dynamic trunking protocol) error may appear if a trunk is flapping or misconfigured or due to excessive traffic/Spanning tree
