Connection between 2 6509 switches via fiber

I have 2 6500 switches with Sup720's. When I try to connect using port 1 to port 1 on the other 720 via a standard LC to LC fiber patch cord, I cannot get a link light, However, when I connect from 1 720 LC to a SC connection on one of the modules, and vise versa, it works fine. Any ideas?

Did you try a different LC<->LC cable ?

Yes, several different ones, different lengths too. I even used the same patch cord to interconnect 2 3560's via LC connectors to each other.
