I have the boson software. i have made the lab in which there are two vlan suppose vlan 2 and vlan 3, both are on the different subnet. Now i want that both of them communicate. so i have added the router.

i have gone into the subinterface of router and given the ip address and encapsulatin isl 2 and isl 3

even i have given the default gateway.

but it did not work.

I WANT TO KNOW THAT WE HAVE TO CONFIGURE ONLY THE ENCAPSULATION AND IP ADDRESS ON THE ROUTER AND TO GIVE THE DEFAULT GATEWAY OF THE ROUTER INTERFACE ON THE PC. IT THAT OK . OR OTHER CONFIGURATION IS NEEDED.

PLEASE TELL ME

Could you show us the exact configuration you used? I presume you had two subinterfaces, one for VLAN 2 and one for VLAN 3, each with an IP address, and the hosts on each VLAN have a default gateway which is the router's address on that VLAN.

Please could you post it.

the configuration i have done like this.

the pc's in the vlan 2 were in the range of ip address 192.168.10.2-192.168.10.5 and on the vlan 3 the range of the ip address is 192.168.11.2-192.168.11.5 . then in the router i have gone into the subinterface 0.1 and give the ip address 192.168.10.1 and on the subinterface 0.2 i have given the ip address 192.168.11.1.

Then in all the pc which are in the vlan 2 the default gateway is 192.168.10.1 and the pcs in the vlan 3 the default gateway is 192.168.11.1.
