Inter Vlan Routing

Hey all,

Thanks in advance for any and all advice you can offer on my situation.

I am having trouble routing with the 4506 in the picture. I lose about 50% packets from vlan 141 & 142 going to 144 unless I add an IP address of those vlans to my 4506 switch. It is layer 3 capable, and I am using static routing with the 6513 as my default route. I am confused as to why I would have to add an ip address for each vlan on my 4506 that I want to route to.

Not knowing how those switches are set , if the links between all your switches are trunked and layer 2 only then you should not need any ip addresses on the 4500. In order to accurately help you , you would probably have to post all 3 configs .
