subnet

Unanswered Question

I have come across one simple question while preparing for the ccna exam from testking.

The question say 213.115.77.0 network was subnetted using /28 subnet mask how many usable sunet and host address per subnet was created .

MY ANSWER IS : 14 SUBNET AND IN EACH SUBNET 14 HOST.

But in testking the answer given is 16 subnet and 14 host per subnet. Why they have not subtracted 2 from the 16.

please reply

I have this problem too.

Only subtract two from the number of hosts (i.e. one network address and one broadcast address). Nowadays using subnet zero is common practice so the same rule does not apply to the number of subnets. Remember to subtract two from the hosts but leave the rest the same and you will do just fine.
