MTP or Transcoder

Hi,

I've a CCM4.3 with several regions ( each regionn with his own h323 gateway ).

Call inside the same region are g.711, calls between different region are g.729.

When arrive a PST call on a region to an IP phone and the phone tranfer the call on another ip-phone IN THE SAME REGION all works fine.

If the call is being tranferred to another REGION does not work ( because the g.729 from different region ).

On the CCM is configured s SW MTP ( the ccm ).

Does I need an IOS MTP or Trancoder ?

Or I've to set the "MTP required" on gateway config ?

I can use c2811 with PVDMII

Any help ?

can you post your h323 with dial peer and voice codec class configuration.

I am looking to see if your inbound dial peers that send calls to call manager are set to attempt to use a voice codec class that includes both codecs.

Because in order to transfer from IP Phone to IP Phone no external transcoder is required.

Hi,

here the config of the VG; when i Transfer the call to a ip-phone on another region ( talking with the first in G729 ), the ipphone ring-out, but the call go disconnected when the user on that region pickup the call.

Hi,

I've solved the issue using a 2801 with PVDMII64, and configuring transcoding ( see bottom for the config ).

Then I've added to the callmanager as transcoder Cisco IOS Enhanced Media Termination Point.

The only issue is that i see also a lot og G711u transcoding and not only G729.

I already had MTP sotware ( the ccm ), but it seem it does not trancode in G729.

Any suggest ?
