We currently have 2 locations one in the US and one in the UK, and these are connected to a point to point T1/E1 and running fine. We want to add a backup to this just in case of an outage. We went with a cable connection in the US and a DSL in the UK. I have the cable connection going to an Ethernet port on in the US and a WIC-1ADSL installed in the router in the UK. By the way both routers are 2811's. We have a static IP in the UK and for some reason they can't give us a Default Gateway and we have a static IP here in the US as well. All that being said I can't get the tunnel to come up. Here is the code I entered in the UK for the DSL.

interface ATM0/1/0

no ip address

no atm ilmi-keepalive

dsl operating-mode auto

pvc 8/48

encapsulation aal5mux ppp dialer

dialer pool-member 1

interface Dialer0

ip address negotiated

encapsulation ppp

dialer pool 1

dialer idle-timeout 0

dialer persistent

dialer-group 1

keepalive 5

ppp authentication chap callin

ppp chap hostname [email protected]

ppp chap password blah

dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

Anyway any would be appreciated.

If you want to configure DMVPN using DSL as a backup it works great! We are doing it running EIGRP. What protocol are you running over your WAN?

We are EIGRP.

Can you give a rough idea of the config because I am getting nowhere.
