Dear All,

For load balancing by using BGP we can use maximum-paths option. I want know that if we are doing BGP multihoming with different providers then maximum-paths option will remain valid or not ?

Regards,

Mujeeb

Mujeeb,

I order to achieve multiple BGP paths to the same destination in the routing table you have to meet following criteria's:

- equal weight, local preference ... and more.

Please have look on following Cisco document:

Kind regards,

Robert

Assuming you have a public AS and your different providers have public AS, then you can multi-path effectively if you have an internal private AS that sees your public AS routers.

Other, possibly easier, solutions would be to load balance to your BGP routers, internally, using multiple static routes, an IGP that load balances, or something like GLBP, or using OER.
