I created 2 VLANs on a 3500XL
1. VLAN 2
2. VLAN 3
assigned IP address to each
and use no shutdown command.
when i use show interfaces command
WLAN 2 is administratively down, line protocl down
the same is true for VLAN 3
what is the problem ..
Also i can't ping the IP address of the VLANS
any one can tell me
On the 3500XL you are only allowed one VLAN management interface up at a time.
This was changed in later models ... the 2950 for example, to allow you as many as you want. But it was still layer-2 only; it would not route.
For the VLAN to be up there must be at least one port in the VLAN that is connected to a device or there must be at least one active trunk that includes that VLAN. From your description I can not tell whether one of these conditions is true. And if the message does say that the VLANs are administratively down then it looks like the no shutdown command did not work. Perhaps you can clarify the situation?
