config auth-list add mic <AP mac> - what does this do?

Hi,

Say I have 2 LAPs on a WLC.

Then I enter,

config auth-list add mic <AP mac>

for one of them.

Does this mean the other LAP,

1) Has it's current LWAPP tunnel disabled

2) Can't establish LWAPP tunnel next time it resets? Must I enter this command for the 2nd LAPs MAC for it's LWAPP tunnel to come up?

If I remove all commands,

config auth-list add mic <AP mac>

from the WLC, will it now allow establishment for all LAPs?

ps. My LAPs only have MIC, not SSC.

Regards, MH

Not applicable

Even without this command WLC accepts Cisco LAPs with MICs. But if you add for one AP it is safe to add it for another AP also.

Hi,

Not sure what you're trying to say.

I'm looking for a method to make it necessary to explicitly configure the WLC for each LAP added. I was hoping auth-list would be it but some testing showed, as you said that configuring it for 1 AP doesn't stop others LWAPP Joining.

Hence I don't understand the purpose of this command when the "mic" keyword is used.
