Leased is a symmetric telecommunications line connecting two locations

It could either be E1/ T1 or DS3

If you need Internet, then you could buy a leased line (E1) which is conencted to the Internet cloud. This would mean you have a dedicated E1 link to the internet cloud. Alternatively you can even think of a DSL line

Leased lines (LL) are available with a wide range of bandwidth starting from Kbps to high speed Mbps lines. E1/T1 are a part of it.

They can be either used to connect sites within intranet or to connect directly internet. Internet leased lines can be again be categorised as dedicated LL to a specific organisation or shared LL between a No. of companies.

So, the criteria of selection would be Bandwidth & Internet LL or intranet LL.

Hi Friends,

Thanks to both Narayan's for their good explainations.

Regards,

Naidu.
