Apparently CM 5.x and 6.x can function as a SIP UAC, but I cannot get it to do so. I have the SIP trunk, SIP security, SIP profile and SIP realm in place, but no luck. I am comparing sniffer traces of a working softphone connection vs the CM attempts and the CM is not passing any REGISTER attempts and the the INVITES on outbound call requests are missing the authorization information. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know from experience that CM 6.X can act as a SIP UAC but does not support SIP REGISTER. If you need to support SIP REGISTER you have to offload this onto another device.
Digest authentication is supported and you configure credentials under User Management>SIP Realm
