Hi all!
Just want to inquire what brand of NIC that can be use for PIX. I have PIX firewall with only two interface(inside, outside). I want to add one more card. Do I need to buy that card from cisco or can I use the ordinary NIC's?
Tnx a lot!!!

From my experience and for better interoperability it is good to stick with Cisco. Nevertheless you can buy third party NICs but opertaion is not guaranteed.

Pix 515/525 and 535 uses Intel EtherExpress
NIC. Use Intel EtherExpress NIC i827xxx
or something like that and it will work
fine with both Cisco Pixes and Cisco IDS
4210/4215/4235.

hi,
I found this in wikipidea. PIX-1FE - 32 bit/33 MHz One port 10/100 Fast Ethernet card. Based on the Intel Pro/100+ family with the 82557, 82558 and 82559 chipsets.
Can i also use this one?
Tnx!

Use the i82559 chipset NIC. It is the same
chipset NIC uses by Cisco.
