Rafael,

Here is a link to another NetPro response that I think will completely answer your questions. The short answer is that a 7911 takes up 3 DLUs on a Call Manager Cluster. Therefore:

Qty 1 of LIC-CM-DL-1000= is 1000 DLUs therefore you have enough DLU for 333 phones.

The CM BE 7828-H3 is Call Manager Business Edition the 50 Seats are for the first 50 seats of Unity Connection. They do not cover the phone DLUs. You will still need to order enough LIC-CM-DL-10= to cover the 7911 at 3 DLUs per phone. The LIC-CM-CL-10= is a part number for 10 ip phone DLUs.

Hi Rafael,

Device licenses are required for Cisco devices and for third-party devices, with the flexibility to replace third-party devices with Cisco devices. Device licenses are sold in increments of device-license units (DLU's). Device-license units are assigned to each device connected to Cisco Unified CallManager 5.0. Each device is assigned a unit number based on the type and capabilities of the device. Devices with more complex and high-end capabilities are assigned a higher number of units compared to devices with basic capabilities,

Here is the DLU breakdown;

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7902G = 1

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7905G = 2

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7911G = 3

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7912G = 3

Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7920 (no battery) = 4

Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7936 = 3

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7940G = 4

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7941G = 4

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7941G-GE = 4

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7960G = 4

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G = 4

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7961G-GE = 4

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7970G = 5

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7971G = 5

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7985G = 6

Third-party SIP device (basic) = 3 (third-party)

Third-party SIP device (advanced) = 6 (third-party

From this doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_qanda_item0900aecd805009fc.shtml

Here is the breakdown for your requirements in scenario # 1;

For DLU's (Device License Units - Phones)

7911 - 330 Phones x 3 DLU's per phone = 990 DLU's (This would leave you some spare's)

For Seat Licenses;

You need 1 Seat License per user

330 x 1 = Minimum 330 Seat Licenses

For scenario # 2;

50 Seat Licenses;

7911 - 50 Phones x 3 DLU's per phone = 150 DLU's or 15 x LIC-CM-DL-10

7911 = 50 IP Phones

Hope this helps!

A 7911 requires 3 DL's so you would need to get 333 phones to max out. In your second scenario, the 50 seats are for Unity Connections. You would still need to buy 3 DL's for every 7911 phone you purchase, and if you want VM for those users, you need to buy seats for every user over the 50 seats included in the Bundle.

You do not need a seat license for every user unless you want every user to have voice mail.
