External Online Indicator

I have a request for a light mounted on the outside of an office to indicate when the person is on the phone. We are currently running UCM 5.1.1 and using a 7960 phone.

Any ideas?

That is not easy! Are you willing to open the phone for a mod ?

Perhaps something very complicated can be built using an application and the light connected someway to a PC.

I have had the phones apart before for hookswitch issues.

Approximately how much time and $$ will I need to invest to do this?

Quite a bit of time. You need a small relay box to pilot the light, depending on the load. if it was a 7961 I would try to hook into the line led, that is the only gauranteed to lit no matter phones is used with receiver, speackrphone, or headset. Bute the 7960 buttons do not lit so I guess your only chocieis the hoockswitch.
