NM-CIDS Boot error

Hi there guys.

I have a NM-CIDS module, and after to made a password recovery proccess (for 4.1 version) we can not login to the IPS.

It seems like the image is not in the flash.

After the router goes up, this is the status f the NM:

Router#service-module idS-Sensor 1/0 status

Service Module is Cisco IDS-Sensor1/0

Service Module supports session via TTY line 66

Service Module is trying to recover from error

Service Module status is not available

So, i captured the screen when the NM try to boot from the flash or the compac flash:

Initializing memory. Please wait.

Booting from flash..., please wait.

No boot image in flash. Now boot from compact drive

Booting from disk..., please wait.

Well, as you can see, the NM dont have any image to boot.

I tried to put the file NM-CIDS-K9-helper-1.0-1.bin at the compac flash (using a router) just to check if the IDS try to boot from this file.

is there something wrong with this accions?

what do you think?

Thanks in advance!

Pablo

You may have run into the hard drive issue. To find out you have to power off the nm-cids for 15 minutes. If you can power down the whole router, that would be best. Then power it back up and see if the nm-cids will boot.

I did it, but it did not work.

First i turned off the NM and then i turned off the router.

A half hour later i turned on the router (2851, c2800nm-adventerprisek9-mz.124-9.T.bin) but the behavior of the NM is the same.

Is it possible NM-CIDS boots from compaq flash?

What file do i need to put at the compaq flash (before to try the password recovery we saw that the Ids were running a 4.1(4) version) to the ids it may works?

I will appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance!

Pablo

As far as I know, no you can't boot it from the flash. If you did somehow modify the flash, you may have made the module unuseable. Can you get back to the prompt where you did the password recovery? (after typing *** during boot up). If not, you will have to rma the module. If so, I think the best bet is to reimage the sensor. It appears something must have happened during the password recovery routine. Did you notice any error messages? Do you have a link for the steps you used? I f not, did your steps match these: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00807517ba.html#wp1031425

Ok, it's clare. I will ask for a rma for this module.

Last question. I did not found the guide for the version 4.1, so, i never found what is the user and pass default for the IDS for the version 4.1

All the links to the 4.1 version are broken.

If it is possible to get some pdf about the 4.1 guide?

Thank you!

Pablo
