In the Aironet 1250 Series FAQ (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6973/products_qanda_item0900aecd806b7c82.shtml), the powering options for the Cisco Aironet 1250 Series mentions --
"Beginning late 2007, Cisco will enable auto-negotiating, single-port power for the Aironet 1250 Series access point on leading switches across the Catalyst portfolio".
Does this mean there will be a retrofit to existing switches or will there be a new model of switch hardware?

Some models already support the increased wattage requirements of the 1250 series APs. The newer models are also supporting this. For the models that today only support 15 watts you must use an inline injector. The newer models are being developed to support 802.3at and also have gig ports. Gig ports are required to get the full throughput of 802.11n as it exceeds the throughput of 100 base t.

Can you please tell us what Model of the Catalyst switch TODAY that is already on 802.3at standard?
Thanks.

Hi Kevin,
We have been keeping a close eye on this and sadly there are no Cisco switches released yet that support 802.3at :( Here is the most recent info;

What I have been told is that the E series switches are hardware capable, but will require a firmware upgrade.

Has the required firmware released yet? I'm implementing an AP1250 solution with dual radios on a 6509 with WS-X4648-RJ45V modules.

Hi Friend,
As of now Cat6k does not have any IOS upgrade which may bring dual radios up. But it is in roadmap.
For all other experts just wait for few more days.Countdown had begun :)

The Cat6k is on the roadmap as Ankur stated. Most PoE switches are not 802.3at compliant since the standard is not fully ratified. That should happen very soon. It's coming guys.
