Backup the IOS

I want to backup IOS from 6509E switch, can anyone tell me how to back up the ios. I have tried with various options like copy disk0:iosname tftp, copy bootflash:iosname tftp but it is saying no file found. please help me.

That should do it but it does sound like this is what you have tried.

Where are you tftp'ing to and what type of tftp server is it.

thanx for your reply. Actually the error is, when i try with copy disk0:IOSname tftp: it is copying the file upto 33553920bytes after that it is showing the error

"%Error writing tftp://172.19.X.X/IOSname.bin ....."

I checked the space availability and tftp settings. but nothing helped me.

Okay, this could be the tftp server you are using as some do have problems with large files.

I use tftpd32 and it works fine. Attached is a link in case you want to try it.
