what does filler stand for?

Hi people.i ve been coming across this word.what does it stand for in networking.

Depends,

Filler is something used to fill an empty space. A practical example you'd be a modular network equipement. A filler would be put a empty module slot to protect it from dust.

You may also find Filler in network protocol. Would have filler cell in ATM. They take the space of empty cell.
