AAA-3-BADSERVERTYPEERROR

I was just sent a replacement 3660. I was entering in some of the config prior to replacement to reduce downtime. After reloading the router I receive this error:00:04:48: %AAA-3-BADSERVERTYPEERROR: Cannot process authentication server type t

acacs+ (UNKNOWN)

% Authentication failed.

The router then goes to:

Cisco3660-2 con0 is now available

Press RETURN to get started.

After I press RETURN, nothing happens. I do not get a Username or Password promp. After pressing ENTER the router waits 15 seconds then tells me Authentication Failed even though I didn't type anything.

I would simply like to erase the existing configuration but the only tool at my disposal is ROMMON. Does anyone know how to erase a config from ROMMON?

%AAA-3-BADSERVERTYPEERROR: Cannot process [chars] server type [chars]

A method list function encountered a server type that was unknown, or could not be handled. This may be due to a server misconfiguration.

Recommended Action: Copy the message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log. Research and attempt to resolve the issue using the tools and utilities provided at http://www.cisco.com/tac. With some messages, these tools and utilities will supply clarifying information. Search for resolved software issues using the Bug Toolkit at http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/launch_bugtool.pl. If you still require assistance, open a case with the Technical Assistance Center via the Internet at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/front.x/case_tools/caseOpen.pl, or contact your Cisco technical support representative and provide the representative with the information that you have gathered. Attach the following information to your case in nonzipped, plain-text (.txt) format: the output of the show logging and show tech-support commands and your pertinent troubleshooting logs.

I opened a TAC case on how to erase NVRAM and the faulty configuration. See below:

If you want to erase the configuration, send the router into Rommon and

type:

confreg 0x2142

reset

Then the router will reload and skip your configuration so if you wish you can type erase nvram or erase start and the configuration will be erased.

Then you have to change the configuration register back to 0x2102, these are the commands:

config t

config-register 0x2102

end
